SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) and <B><I>BMC (Bulk Moulding Compound)</I></B> are fibre reinforced composite materials which primarily consist of inorganic ingredients. The organic plastics content is less than 30 per cent by weight: unsaturated polyester resin, a thermosetting resin, which cures by means of a <B><I>cross-linking</I></B> reaction. Fibre glass reinforcement guarantee superior mechanical properties. Additional additives like low-profile components, fillers, release agents, catalyst, process additives etc. are used to enhance the performance or processing of the material.
<>Glass fibres in SMC are chopped into length of 25 or 50 mm. BMC usually contains fibres of 6 or 12 mm length. The amount can vary from 20 to 60 per cent by weight.</P>
<>As with any material system, be it metallic or plastic, SMC can be formulated to meet specific performance requirements of each material. Such as high tensile strength, high dimensional stability, high heat resistance, excellent electrical performance, class “A” surface, low density, chemical stability, corrosion resistance etc. </P>
SMC/BMC offer many design advantages in part consolidation. Different wall thicknesses, sharp angles, ribs and bosses are feasible. The design flexibility offered by SMC is a good starting point for the consolidation of parts and functions, leading to high performance solutions, at reduced costs.</P>

    SMC和BMC主要是增強(qiáng)纖維復(fù)合材料的無機(jī)合成物。有機(jī)塑料重量成分少于30%，通過不飽和樹脂、熱固性樹脂和其他材料相互反應(yīng)，粘合的而成。玻璃纖維的應(yīng)用是為了確保產(chǎn)品優(yōu)良的機(jī)械性能，再加上象低性定型物件，填料，脫模劑，催化劑等一些助劑，是為了保證反應(yīng)過程的良好進(jìn)行。

    在SMC中，使用切成25到50毫米長的玻璃纖維；而在BMC中，通常會用6到12毫米長的短絲。用量都要占到總重量的20%到60%左右。

    不管是使用金屬物料還是塑料物料系統(tǒng)，SMC都能具體應(yīng)用到每種要求的材料，比如，高伸縮強(qiáng)度型，高密穩(wěn)定型，良好抗熱型，良好導(dǎo)電性能型，模面A造型，低密度型，化學(xué)性能穩(wěn)定型，抗腐型等。

    SMC和BMC在零部件的設(shè)計構(gòu)件方面有很多出色的優(yōu)點(diǎn)，比如不同面體的厚度、尖角、支撐桿的應(yīng)用都是可行的。SMC的靈活設(shè)計特性，在零部件的構(gòu)造和功能方面的應(yīng)用是一個很好的開端，在減少成本方面，將引領(lǐng)推廣更高效的解決方案高潮。
