Apr 14, 2005 - Asian styrene monomer prices took a sharp drop to $1,100-$1,120/mt FOB Korea on Thursday. Market started the day with offers at $1,140-$1,150/mt FOB Korea against $1,100/mt FOB buyer. Accordingly, a deal was heard done at $1,100/mt FOB Korea for May, followed by another transaction at $1,080/mt FOB. Market came into silence due to the huge fall. Later in the afternoon, buyers were detected at around $1,050-$1,060/mt FOB Korea level for May while, offers were heard at $1,080-$1,100/mt FOB. Then, two deals were reported at $1,070/mt FOB Korea and at $1,100/mt for May. Buyers were then bidding as high as $1,100/mt FOB Korea and sellers were pegged at $1,120/mt FOB Korea level. At the close of the market, a deal was heard done at $1,115/mt FOB Korea. The overall market sentiment became very soft earlier the day but it recovered a bit by the end of the day. As for CFR market, spot talks were not active. Bid/offer level was assessed at $1,110-1,130/mt CFR China. In the Chinese domestic market, prices had also descended by 400 RMB/mt to 10,900 - 11,000 RMB/mt.
